Field Service Engineers (m/f)
based in the Heidelberg,
Dortmund, Hamburg and Berlin areas

Summary of Position:

Delivers professional service activities (installation and associated training, maintenance, repairs and assistance) in order to provide an optimal service support to all the local customers to strengthen brand loyalty. Contributes to achieving specific service-related targets as defined for revenues, profit and service order volume, whilst complying with internal rules and practices. Acts within general service policies, business processes and procedures, and local procedures and rules.


  • Performs service activities within guidelines and in compliance with internal and customer procedures and regulations. This means mainly: installation, repair and maintenance of as well as user instruction for SCIEX instruments to ensure safe and effective customer operations. Provides responsive telephone and on-site support and generally works to ensure that customer is successful in the use of SCIEX instruments.
  • Ensures the professional relationship with existing customers to achieve customer's loyalty to our company. Utilization of the Escalation Procedure as appropriate.
  • Ensures own related asset management including spare parts stock, company car, telephone, tools, software and computers, calibrations, literature etc.
  • Coordinates own work schedule with relevant partners (service coordinator, team leader, colleagues). Produces timely and accurate reports of own activities as appropriate, i.e. engineer reports, planned maintenance reports, installation reports, expense reports etc.).
  • Ensures that own activities are in line with those of the rest of the local commercial organisation (sales and support) and informs customers of company's other products and services.

Qualification, Skills and Experience

  • Professional qualification in chemistry, life science or electronic/mechanical engineering. Computer-literate in Windows™ and network technology.
  • Good verbal and written command of the English language.
  • Troubleshooting knowledge and experience.
  • Ideally, home-based in either the Heidelberg, Dortmund, Hamburg or Berlin area of Germany.
  • Willingness to travel for multiple days at a time for customer visits and/or trainings.
  • Driving license is essential.
